Forensic mapping and Diagramming
Accurate crash scene mapping is critical in memorializing evidence and its relationship to the involved vehicle. It is also necessary in determining distances traveled before and after a collision, sight lines, and visibility. We can prepare scaled diagrams of crash locations immediately after the crash or using existing mapped data.
EDR Download and Analysis
Most modern vehicles are equipped with an Event Data Recorder (EDR), similar to an airplane's "black box," that records important information before or during a crash. This information can often be read and analyzed and can reveal important information about the crash, including precrash speed, Delta-V, seatbelt usage, and braking.
Pedestrian and Bicycle crashes
Motor Vehicle crashes involving pedestrian and bicycle often result in serious injuries. These crashes also represent a high percentage of fatal crashes in urban areas. Pedestrian conspicuity, available sight lines and right-of-way need to be examined to understand who is at fault when these crashes occur.
Evidence Photography
Much like forensic mapping, photography creates a permanent record of scene evidence and is a valuable tool in illustrating a crash scene, vehicle damage, and injuries. These photographs play an important role in conveying the facts an circumstances of traffic crash to a third party or to a jury, through courtroom exhibits.
Video download and analysis
Traffic crashes are often captured on video which can provide valuable evidence of precrash movement and vehicle speed. This information may only be available for a short time, so you must act quickly to locate, capture and preserve it.
Vehicular Pursuit Policy
The Attorney General of New Jersey has issued guidelines for police officers engaging in vehicular pursuits. The New Jersey Police Vehicular Pursuit Policy is designed to secure a balance between protecting the lives and safety of the public and police officers and law enforcement’s duty to enforce the law and apprehend violators.
Time-Distance analysis
Time-distance analysis can illustrate where involved vehicles, pedestrians, or bicyclists were prior to a crash and as they move toward the moment of the collision. This can play a critical role in determining if a crash could have been mitigated or avoided.

ABOUT
Michael J. Rizol Jr.
Equity Reconstruction was founded in 2020 by Michael J. Rizol Jr. We provide motor vehicle accident investigation and consulting services to attorneys, insurance companies, or government agencies. Clients may be involved in civil or criminal proceedings, representing the plaintiff or the defense. Services include complete crash reconstructions or consultation on certain factors which can be tailored to your needs.
Mr. Rizol retired from the New Jersey State Police as Captain and supervisor of the Traffic and Public Safety Office. During his career, he held various assignments that included seven years in the Fatal Accident Investigation Unit. He began that assignment as a detective and investigated over two hundred and twenty-five serious or fatal motor vehicle crashes and reviewed or participated in over five hundred other serious or fatal crash investigations. He was promoted to Unit Head in 2013 and remained in charge of that unit until retirement. In addition to his experience, he has extensive classroom training in crash reconstruction. In 2009, he received his ACTAR certification as a traffic crash reconstructionist and has maintained that certification through continued training. In 2011, he was accepted in US District Court as an expert in Accident Reconstruction. He is now a licensed private investigator in New Jersey.

Equity Reconstruction will thoroughly investigate all assigned cases and will formulate all findings with honesty and due care. Opinions will be truthfully express in comprehensive, written reports and testimony, when requested, will be provided without bias.
